KLM Corporate Sustainable Aviation Fuel Programme
Sustainable Aviation Fuel is one of the keys to reducing our carbon footprint, but it is not yet available on a large scale. Sustainable Aviation Fuel, or SAF, is a jet fuel, made from renewable sources like used cooking oil and a durable substitute to fossil fuel. It blends perfectly with conventional jet fuel and fits all engines of all aircraft, without impacting current processes or operations. SAF proactively reduces emissions by at least 75% compared to fossil fuel and it contributes to a circular economy.
KLM only buys SAF produced from raw materials that do not have a negative impact on biodiversity and/or food production. This more sustainable fuel meets criteria issued by the Roundtable of Sustainable Biomaterials (RSB).
Making flying more sustainable
SAF is not yet available on a large scale. Today, less than 0.1% of the roughly 300 million tons of jet fuel used by commercial airlines is SAF. To make a significant impact on aviation’s overall carbon emissions, we need your support.
Join the KLM Corporate SAF Programme and contribute to making SAF available around the globe. Only together, we can stimulate demand, lower prices and bring sustainable aviation closer. Together, we can lay the foundation for sustainable travel, and therefore for the future of flying.
